Join us November 18, 2008 to hear the first National Ombudswoman of Perú, Dr. Beatriz Merino in conversation with KRON 4 news anchor Ysabel Duron. She will appear as part of the popular I.M.O.W. Extraordinary Voices, Extraordinary Change Speaker Series program.Dr. Beatriz has become an independent watchdog as her country's Defensora del Pueblo, or People's Defender. Since 2005, she has protected the rights of Perú's citizens—dedicating her work to those 'who do not have a voice.'
In 2003, Dr. Merino was the first woman elected as prime minister of a Latin American country. Today she is recognized as a leader in women's issues, as well as an expert in Latin American politics.
She will have much to reveal about women and leadership, as well as the global economy, as she was also a senior specialist at the World Bank. We look forward to seeing you there.
