The San Jose Wind Symphony kicks off its Diamond Jubilee season — that’s right, 60 years of making music for the Bay Area! — with an upbeat concert of Broadway show tunes, featuring the music of the legendary Leonard Bernstein.From the controversial “Candide” to his triumph, “West Side Story,” Bernstein’s musicals are still regularly performed around the world.
The program also includes a suite of songs from “Carousel,” the second musical by the team of Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (book and lyrics). Rodgers later wrote that “Carousel” was the favorite of all his musicals
Guest vocal soloists are Michelle McDaniel, Alexandra Sessler, and Andrew Metzger.
