Description

In order to collect more customized banknotes for the Transformoney Tree, a Burning Man honorarium project, we decided to organize a Banknote Beautifying event in San Francisco, the day after we arrive in the United States!

More info about the project can be found here: http://www.indiegogo.com/transformoney , a crowdfunding page which is not aiming to collect money, just banknotes....

What's the idea behind the Banknote Beautifying event? Well, it's simple:

1. Invite a bunch of Burners, friends, or just random cool people (in no particular order)

2. Organize some markers, and pens

3. Tell people to bring banknotes – preferably dollar bills, but all currencies are welcome!

4. And then just have fun with money ;-)

Everybody customizing banknotes will get a special 2.0 banknote gifted in return.

So please tell all your friends and don't forget to bring some banknotes: We don't need your Money, we just need your Art.

There will be a donation bar with wine and beer. If you want other stuff to drink than please bring your own.

Special thanks to Tech Shop Annex for giving us the chance to organize this!! You guys are awesome ;-)

Transformoney Tree

Last year, Amsterdam based artist Dadara started a new bank: The Exchanghibition Bank. In an Amsterdam shopping center he presented his new Exchangibition Banknote to Larry Harvey, the founder of the Burning Man Festival, and during the 2011 edition festival he managed to open up the Black Rock City branch of his bank.

Dadara has built some big interactive art projects in previous years as well, such as the Fools Ark, a wooden threemaster shipped from the Netherlands to the Nevada desert and then burnt, the Burning Greymen, an altar surrounded by 140 paper mache Greymen, and Checkpoint Dreamyourtopia, a border control checkpoint to enter your own Dreams.

The Exchangibition bank is an ongoing project which raises questions about the value(s) of Art and Money. As a part of this project, he now wants to grow a Transformoney Tree in the vast moneyless desert of the Burning Man Festival.
