Bajofondo, formerly known as Bajofondo Tango Club, is an Argentine-Uruguayan 8-piece collective led by Gustavo Sataolalla. Bajofondo’s mixture of traditional tango and electronica infuses elements of hip-hop and rock. Their vibrant string instruments and sampling aptly aligns them with bands such as The Gotan Project who are also renown for popularizing tango-fusion. Bajofondo’s leader, Gustavo Sataolalla, has won numerous Academy Awards and Grammys for his musical contributions to films such as Brokeback Mountain, Babel, and The Motorcycle Diaries.
