AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER HOSTS OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND TO BENEFIT LOCAL NONPROFITMission Hospice & Home Care to Receive All Profits from Frances Freyberg’s Silicon Valley Open Studio Benefit Event, May 5-6 in Menlo Park
Menlo Park, Calif. – Award-winning photographer Frances Freyberg will host a Silicon Valley Open Studio (SVOS) weekend to benefit local nonprofit Mission Hospice & Home Care. The free event will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6, 2012, from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at 856 Partridge Avenue in Menlo Park. All her profits from the weekend’s sales will support Mission Hospice’s hospice house project.
Most hospice patients are cared for in the comfort of their own homes or in the homes of loved ones, where they can die with dignity, surrounded by friends and family. Today in San Mateo County, when an individual requires hospice care outside of the home, his or her only options are a residential care facility, a nursing home, or the hospital -- none of which is specifically designed for hospice care. There is no hospice house in San Mateo County.
Mission Hospice’s vision is to offer a peaceful, caring and home-like alternative for patients whose end-of-life needs cannot be managed in their own homes. The environment would provide medical and nursing care, as well as emotional and spiritual support for patients and their families.
Mission Hospice & Home Care, founded in 1979, is a local, independent hospice that provides quality, compassionate care to terminally ill patients and their families in San Mateo County and surrounding areas. The organization is committed to serving all patients – regardless of

Frances Freyberg, whose photographs can be found in galleries and private collections worldwide, specializes in vibrant color portraits of people, wildlife, nature and architecture from her travels to more than 60 countries. This year’s Open Studio event will also feature photos from her 2011 trips to New Zealand, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
Photos from Freyberg’s worldwide travels and local adventures will be on display at the May 5-6 Open Studio benefit event in Menlo Park, as well as at a May 19-20 Open Studio event at the same location. Other award-winning Peninsula artists exhibiting at 856 Partridge Ave. include Kim Holl, Lynn Montoya, Julia Munger Seelos and Alice Weil. This event is part of the 26th annual Silicon Valley Open Studios, where hundreds of local artists open their studios to the public during the first three weekends in May.
