Atelier d’Artistes – the artists’ studio. What better place to watch children create art
inspired by the work of Flo Oy Wong. Ms Wong will be the featured speaker at the 4th annual fundraiser benefiting the Art in Action programs which bring quality art into the schools in our Bay Area communities.

This year’s luncheon event will be held at the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club on Monday, March 5, 2012. The event theme Art Tells a Story will include the works of Ms. Wong, the students from the St. Elizabeth Seton School in Palo Alto and the participation of all guests at the event who will create a small piece of art for display on a large mural at the event. The display will become part of next year’s 30th anniversary celebration of Art in Action.

This event will help Art in Action, a nonprofit organization founded in 1982, raise funds to bring quality art education to students, train teachers and parents, continue the development of online resources and support the Scholarship Program for schools. The Art in Action curriculum is consistently praised for empowering teachers and parents to teach art, by providing detailed, easy-to-follow directions for guiding successful discussions and projects. The lessons enhance student creativity and innovative thinking and appeal to different learning styles. The curriculum meets national and state academic standards and integrates with language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The use of innovative multimedia technology in the online curriculum provides educators with new opportunities in K-8 art education.
