Description
ARTSPAN CELEBRATES SF OPEN STUDIOS’ 35TH ANNIVERSARY AT ARTLAUNCH 2010 ON OCTOBER 2San Francisco, CA - ArtSpan is pleased to announce its annual fundraiser and SF Open Studios kick-off event ArtLaunch 2010 (formerly Private Preview Gala), featuring over 430 original artworks by SF Open Studios artists, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 from 7-10pm at the SOMArts Gallery, 934 Brannan Street at 9th Street.
Guests will be the first to glimpse the 2010 SF Open Studios Exhibition and purchase original artwork at very reasonable prices—attending ensures the art you covet does not otherwise adorn someone else’s wall. ArtLaunch 2010 will stimulate your creative side with an engaging interactive art project, an open bar with Pernod Absinthe cocktails, fun eats by Thomas John events, music, and a 5% discount on the original artwork for sale (up to $50) for members. This exciting event is for collectors, art-appreciators, and newbies alike; with over 430 artists exhibiting an example of their artwork in mediums like printmaking, sculpture, photography, painting, and more, anyone can find the art they love at ArtLaunch 2010.
Tickets are available to registered SF Open Studios artists and members for $35 in advance / $40 at the door and to non-members for $50 in advance / $60 at the door. You can purchase tickets at artspan.org or by calling (415) 861-9838. Proceeds from ArtLaunch 2010 benefit all of ArtSpan’s programs, including Art for City Youth, which provides over 700 underserved youth with arts education.
Unfamiliar with SF Open Studios? It’s the oldest and largest open studios program in the county, featuring an annual, month-long art event in October that showcases over 800 San Francisco artists in their studios. Each weekend, art patrons brave public transportation, parking quandaries, and unpredictable San Francisco weather to see as many SF Open Studios artists and their artworks as possible, in the hopes of finding their next true art love. The event connects collectors with artists for engaging dialogue and a glimpse into the working artist’s life, and it helps artists build their mailing lists, gain new admirers, and ultimately sustain a living making art.
