Description
The Naming Gallery invites you to the artist reception of Alan Grizzell. The Oakland based Artist will show on April 12th his most recent work under the title "Premonitions". Grizzell´s paintings are executed in oil on wood panel with an emphasis on capturing atmosphere and dramatic lighting using a rich palette and bold brush work. His paintings are framed using salvaged material found in the same urban environment he draws inspiration from. Currently his work explores Oakland in the late night hours seeking a quiet beauty when most have gone to sleep. Signs of contemporary humanity are stripped from the majority of his paintings, giving emphasis to the effect of light on the environment.
