Johansson Projects presents Tickling Thicket and CollapsitalismIn the main gallery Johansson projects presents Tickling Thicket a two person exhibition with Yvette Molina and Katy Stone, and in the back room gallery Collapsitalism: the holiday recession sale. Collapsitalism is a response to gloomy economics where artists have made their work available for less than $500. Artists included are Zach Houston, Marci Erspamer, Nathan Cordero, Hunter Longe, Eric Larson, Susie Grant, Carson Murdach, Joan Moment, Andrew Benson, Alex Case, Val Britton, Jana Flynn and Kristina Lewis.
The buzz about Oakland’s art scene is growing, fueled by The Oakland Art Murmur, the monthly First Fridays Art Night is a festive, event that has grown quickly and received national attention. Gallery openings, music and impromptu street performances are all part of the loosely knit spectrum of activity that characterizes this event.
