Description

Grammy-nominated accordionist Andre Thierry has become an international icon of Accordion Soul. Rooted in his French-Creole heritage, Thierry's music celebrates his background while integrating funk and R&B elements. His albums feature the accordion as an upbeat, rhythmic instrument that sounds equally at home in a New Orleans church gathering or on the dance floor.

Surrounded by Zydeco dance music as a child, Thierry developed a love for the French-Creole musical tradition at a young age. By the time he was twelve, he had formed his own band, Zydeco Magic. Thierry honed his craft by playing with local masters like Danny Poullard and other visiting Cajun bands in the East Bay.

His 2004 release "Whole Lotta Somethin" brims with syncopated, danceable melodies carried by the accordion. Thierry pays tribute to the blues on his 2015 release "Bouncin with the Blues," playing and singing blues classics with his signature upbeat treatment.

Thierry's career extends well beyond the United States. In 2016, he was the first American artist to perform at Germany's Akkordeonale festival. He collaborated with local artists and continued to tour the country. Featured in Michael Tisserand's The Kingdom of Zydeco, Thierry has been called "a standard bearer for the new generation."
