Three Bands That You Don't Want To Miss!ROADSIDE MEMORIAL ~
PICKING UP where bands like Echo & The Bunnymen and Joy Division left off, Roadside Memorial offer new dark romance to be enjoyed on the dancefloor.
Combining many of the best elements of both British Invasions, RM’s sound seamlessly stitches together the psychedelic, surf-garage rock of the Sixties and the keyboard-driven, sixteenth-note-beat post-punk of the early Eighties. The resultant soundscape is a wintry one, speaking to loss and the dark side of love in plaintive reverb and infinite sustain.
INFERNO OF JOY ~
San Francisco's Inferno of Joy was formed in early 2006 by vocalist Sean Heskett and guitarist Hugh Yerburgh. Having both served in the ranks of Scratchie/Mercury Records act, Phoenix Thunderstone, and following several years of self-imposed retirement, Sean sought Hugh over seas , discussed the possibility of starting another band, and mutually concluded the time was right to embark on a new musical project- Inferno of Joy.
Upon settling on a line up, the band played frequently through out most of northern California, and in 2007 released a 5 song Ep on Divine Kali Records. Inferno of Joy quickly garnered a reputation for wild kinetic shows, often Dionysian in their excesses; an orgy of colour, sound, blood, and sweat...
In Spring 2009, following a line up change, rangy Texan drummer Ricky Wayne Garrett signed on. The Dallas native and veteran of a number of bands, spanning punk to blues to jazz, has been nothing less than inspirational! His seemingly effortless ability to fuse genres, and his extensive musical background and knowledge have added immeasurably to Inferno of Joy's eclectic sound.
In October 2011, Inferno of Joy added bass guitar player, Tom Mitchell, a long time musician of San Francisco's underground. Delivering a powerful rhythmic drive with a broad harmonic sensibility, Tom's addition has helped the rhythm section to become an immeasurable force. With it's strongest line up yet, the band are currently finishing their upcoming full length release due to be released in early 2012
THE DRAMANTICS ~
Once upon a time in the remote town of Rome, Italy a storyteller was born. Massi Piazza. Walking in the musical shadows of his guitarist brother Alessandro throughout most of his more formative years provided the foundation of Massi's passion for music. Originally he hit the music scene as a DJ, yet he was constantly writing short stories. At the suggestion of a fellow DJ Massi decided it was time to combine his storytelling with music and thus began to learn to play the guitar and bass on his own. Teaming up with Alessandro, the two embarked on a quest to find the missing links to their new found project which landed them in San Francisco. In 2008 the two began working with guitarist/keyboardist, Brandon Chaves. Massi's rich baritone vocals combined with Alessandro's edgy guitar playing was a palette pleading for the ethereal ambiance that Brandon's style brings to the canvas. 80's new wave was reborn in the likes of Bauhaus, Jimmy Gnecco, JoyDivision and Morrissey. After seeing the band 'The Love X Nowhere' play, Massi decided to track down the guitarist/vocalist Brett Chulada to recruit him on bass. In late 2010 the four stumbled upon the final piece of the puzzle, hard hitting drummer Dominick Scala. Combined they have shaped a sound that fills a gap in todays music- intense, hard rocking, melodic and passionate. The Dramantics are currently recording in Oakland at The Static Room with Denny Muller (Green Day, The Groovie Ghoulies) and playing shows in the SF Bay Area, Seattle, and LA
