Amoeba Home Grown presents a free showcase featuring Amoeba Berkeley's July Homegrown artist Surplus 1980!Amoeba Music’s Home Grown Independent Artist Program supports the independent spirit by highlighting independent music championed by its employees.
Surplus 1980 is a rock band, the second coming of the instrumental punk band Mute Socialite. Surplus 1980 is a thicker brew with vocals, horns, and strings added here and there, courtesy of a host of Bay Area talents. The band's debut album, Relapse In Response (out now on Dephone Knormal Musik), puts an out-jazz touch on the punk ferocity, but this is still a high-energy post-punk rock band at heart.
