Description
Through a collection of vignettes–from dusty roadsides and picket fences to mom’s kitchen table–along the way finds quirk in the mundane and explores qualities both subtle and sublime. The work dissects these everyday spaces, reconfiguring them into places of curiosity. The evening will feature three works and the premiere of our new dance film, Drift.Led by Kat Cole and Eric Garcia, detour dance is a contemporary dance company that creates movement for the stage and film. Their works tackle the idiosyncrasies and quirky tenderness of human relationships set against the backdrop of everyday life. Located in San Francisco, detour dance magnifies these already existing subtleties, present in a city where the smallest interactions go unnoticed. They explore the inconspicuous, from brief meetings on a park bench to the politics of dating. They seek to create collaborative environments where their dancers are just as curious.
