The band's name actually comes from a tune written by saxophonist/composer Benny Golson, a progentor of hard bop. Featuring Brian Stock on trumpet and flugelhorn, Paul Tarantino on saxophone, Biff Smith on piano, Heath Proskin on bass, and Patrick Tregenza on drums, the band plays classic jazz compositions from the '50s and '60s. Along Came Betty has appeared several times at the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Big Sur Jazz Festival. For anyone who loves the jazz classics, Along Came Betty is not to be missed.
