Description
Firmly established in their roles as elder statesmen of roots reggae, the Abyssinians have been bringing their conscious lyrics, tight three-part harmonies and minor key melodies to the masses for longer than many of today's Jamaican superstars have been alive. Formed when reggae was more closely associated with cheerful pop vocals than Rastafarianism, the Abyssinians have contributed massively to the Jamaican musical soundscape, and their smash hit single "Satta Massagana" has taken on no less than anthemic status for the roots faithful around the world.
