Description
Join us in San Francisco’s hottest new venue, SFJAZZ, for a dazzling night of entertainment that will fund scholarships for low-income youth. Headlining will be Mark Inouye, San Francisco Symphony’s brilliant principal trumpet who moonlights as one of the Bay Area’s most original jazz voices, along with his quartet, The Unit. Master of Ceremonies will be five-time Grammy nominee John Santos, a master percussionist and former Community Music Center faculty member.Gala-goers will enter the grand SFJAZZ lobby where they will delight in the sounds of CMC faculty member Dave Scott and his band, while enjoying fine wine and appetizers by Charles Phan of The Slanted Door. A silent auction will include tickets to future events at SFJAZZ, SF Symphony, and SF Opera; rare wine lots; and gifts certificates to some of the area’s finest restaurants.
At 7:30pm, the main event will begin inside SFJAZZ’s Miner Auditorium, a glorious new venue for jazz. The audience will be treated to performances by the CMC Children’s Chorus, young violinists from the studio of Sin-Tung Chiu, the Mission District Young Musicians Program Ensemble, and headliners, Mark Inouye and The Unit.
Proceeds from this one of a kind event will benefit youth scholarships for Community Music Center, which has helped make San Francisco more musical, more compassionate, and more accessible since 1921.
