Waltz in the May with us at this magical Shakespearean ball.
Since Oberon and Titania and their fairy court are our hosts, the music for the evening will be magical - but extremely eclectic. Dance to the glorious music of Renaissance rock band Avalon Rising, who will play music from Shakespeare's time to the present - from Elizabethan set dances to gorgeous waltzes, from elegant vintage ballroom dance music to Celtic fusion and free-style rock. Some of the dances will be highly choreographed and will be taught and called on the spot, but some of the music will be appropriate for free-style dancing and creative expression.
Note: While the band will play danceable arrangements of a number of Renaissance songs and dances, this is a fantasy ball with lots of waltzing; it is not a period Elizabethan ball. (We love authentic period balls but this is definitely not one!).
Guests are encouraged to come as their favorite Shakespeare characters (from any production, traditional or modern) or in Renaissance or fantasy costume. As usual, however, costumes are admired but not required.
A light snack buffet will provided (Your potluck contributions are extremely welcome. Even the fairy court's resources can be stretched at a popular ball!).
