Description
Here in San Francisco where Hilary lives and works is also where she draws her inspiration. She begins a piece by taking a walk outside with her camera recording images like sketches. In the studio she starts to put images and ideas together to create a landscape more raw with color and feeling. Its a world of celebration, humor, questioning and dreams. A world that explores the inside and the outside of its parts. She creates these works in her primary medium, screen printing. In this way she collages her photographs, and drawings with cut outs and painterly marks. The prints are done in layer upon layer of color. Hilary has again created a particular piece highlighting the neighborhood of Nopa where this show takes place. Also on display are some of Hilary's dolls. These fun creatures are all made with colorful recycled and scrap fabrics. Some forms are a take on everyday animals and others are completely up to the imagination.
