Wine Tasting at Vin, Vino, Wine, Thursday, June 2
You might be thinking of the young, fruity Beaujolais Nouveau that comes out once a year to the joy of many Frenchmen and women and is not exactly a wine one would call sophisticated, but according to the claims of the experts at Vin, Vino, Wine in Palo Alto, 2009 was a kind year to the grape. They say that “the 2009 Cru Beaujolais bears no relation to Beaujolais Nouveau. Many bottles show little fruit at all, and bear way more resemblance to classic Red Burgundy…these are seriously interesting and seriously satisfying reds, priced between $22 and $45.” It might be worth a try. Taste five for $18 or all eight for $35.
