Clara and Esteban Colbert are once again the proud parents of a young chick. One of the four eggs laid on their City Hall ledge has hatched, The remaining eggs are expected to hatch over the next few days, and Clara will brood over her young for about two weeks.

The chicks will be watched over by Glenn Stewart, a biologist with the University of Santa Cruz. He will be climbing up to the 18th story ledge at the end of the month to check on the health of the newborn chicks and to tag them. He will also determine which are males and which are females. Only then will it be possible to name them.

Until then, you can watch the chicks come into the world at the Predatory Bird Research Group’s nestcam atop City Hall.
