Description
San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present 94XXX x 5: Five San Francisco Photographers Shoot Five San Francisco Neighborhoods. The work will occupy the Rare Device gallery April 2 through May 2, 2010. A reception for the show will be held Friday, April 2 from 7 - 9 pm.94XXX x 5: Five San Francisco Photographers Shoot Five San Francisco Neighborhoods is the brainchild of photographer (and curator of the show), Christopher Hall. "San Francisco has been captured in so many predictable ways. Who hasn't seen hundreds of postcard type shots of the Golden Gate Bridge or the Transamerica Building?" he says. "I thought it would be refreshing to take another look at the city through the eyes of a few photographers who live here." Hall, who knows each photographer and follows their work, asked each of them to show him the quirks, flavor and character of one neighborhood through their own eyes.
Participating photographers include Phillip Maisel, Maile Smith, Leah Reich, David Gallagher and Christopher Hall. The featured neighborhoods include the Richmond, the Excelsior, the Mission, Potrero Hill and Bernal Heights.
