Take your chances, roll the dice, or just trust in the luck of the draw—any way you slice it, we’re all subject to the laws of probability. Learn about the role chance and probability play in the natural world, scientific exploration, love, and of course—poker. Experts from the Stanford Department of Statistics will reveal the truth behind card tricks, how to “cheat” at coin flipping, and how math and probability can explain and predict seemingly random occurrences. The Distilled Man’s card aficionados will walk you through the art and science of poker. Then, play all the blackjack, roulette, and other casino games you can stand with nothing to lose but your date’s patience. Catch a special planetarium show at 6:30 on the potential for other planets like ours—The Chances of Life in the Universe—followed by two screenings of Earthquake.
