7th Annual Walk to End Poverty

Saturday, May 19, 2012
9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
at Lake Merritt in Oakland

Envision an Alameda County where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life. To help create a groundswell to end poverty, join the 7th Annual Walk to End Poverty on Saturday, May 19th at Lake Merritt in Oakland. The Walk to End Poverty is hosted by the Alameda County - Oakland Community Action Partnership (AC-OCAP), in collaboration with United Way of the Bay Area, and is free to the public. This event is a partnership between the City of Oakland and the County of Alameda to educate the public and bring awareness about the social issues that impact poverty throughout Alameda County. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Lake Merritt bandstand – across from the Garden Center at 666 Bellevue Avenue. The walk starts promptly at 10 a.m.

The AC-OCAP board encourages people to organize a team of 10 advocates to walk and take a stand against poverty. Let your voice be heard, join the walk, and take the “Power of 10 Challenge.”
