Description
The 28th Annual Santa Cruz PaddleFest (SCPF), the largest display of paddle surfing in the world, is about to commence March 28th-30th, 2014. The event has international attraction because of the venue has the best wave on the planet, Steamer Lane. Here we often have 10 to 15 foot glassy swells for the world stage to showcase their athletic wizardry. Even though this event attracts the best paddle surfers anywhere, we want this contest to nurture the entry level paddler. Lighthouse Point/Steamer Lane, which attracts big swells, is next to a break that produces gentle rolling swells, the Cowell's Break. Hence, we can run two events, one a three day event for the Elite international paddler, and a two day event on gentle swells, the Cowell's Classic (CC), for the new paddle surfer. The CC will have life guards in PWCs, Ambassadors for assistance, and a whole infrastructure to make this event enjoyable. We will even have parties, in a town noted for surf parties, so that the new can rub shoulders with the best to stimulate growth. Plus, if flat water paddling is in your blood, Surf Tech is planning a race for all levels from juniors to experts Saturday morning. We have planned this event so that the SUP paddlers can do both the race & surf. Join us, for you will enjoy simply observing, wandering the manufacturers booths on display at the contest sites, enjoy a meal at the Food Pavilion, or if you are really stoked, get involved for a paddle-welcome.
