Description
We are honored to present the outcome of a truly ground-breaking collaboration between two highly experienced, professional artists in the Bay Area and our elementary students here at Horrall Arts Magnet School in San Mateo. All of the pieces resulting from this collaboration are created entirely by elementary-aged students in Kindergarten through fifth grade, and are a testament to the value of a high quality and rigorous arts education provided by one of the few public Arts schools in the Bay Area. Please RSVP as to whether or not you are able to join us to participate as a valued art critic from our community and support an innovative Arts program at a local public school.
The exhibition features over 1000 pieces of children’s art. Every K-5 student contributed to the exhibit creating a visual spectacle of children’s art. The student work reflects traditional methods and contemporary creations with an uncommon aesthetic elegance in children’s art. Featured works include drawing, painting, digital photography, ceramic sculpture, and found object constructions. Live performance art also takes place with students depicting well known artists and works throughout art history. Students at Horrall receive arts instruction from professional artists through the school’s Artist-in-Residence program. In visual arts, students study under visual artists Sinem Banna and Lia Tealdi-Heinbach. To learn more about these artists, please read below.
