Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant, named after co-owner and chef Zeni Gebremariam, is one of the Bay Area’s top Ethiopian restaurants. Zeni is usually filled with Ethiopian expats and a mix of ethnically diverse diners who know they’ve found something good. A palm-thatched bar serves surprisingly potable Ethiopian wine as well as beer and cocktails.

San Jose is Silicon Valley's hub for Ethiopian food and Zeni is the best. It's great for vegetarians and also for carnivores because they do both cuisines well. Check out the ye (olde?) doro tibs (grilled diced chicken with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes) and yesmir wot (wonderfully rich and spicy red lentils).
