Did you know that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men experience sexual violence other than rape and 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men have been raped in their lifetime? Let's rally together to change those staggering statistics and raise awareness to the issue of sexual assault in our community. Join us for the 10th Annual YWCA Silicon Valley Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®!
On Wednesday, April 18, 2012 community leaders, businessmen, students and residents will "walk a mile" in women's high heeled shoes through the streets of downtown San Jose. The walk will begin at 5 p.m. and start and end at Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park. Join us to raise awareness and funds to assist in supporting the YWCA Silicon Valley Rape Crisis Center.
To register, visit Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Active.com There is no minimum registration fee to participate, however your financial support assists the YWCA Rape Crisis Center in providing critical sexual assault services in our community. All participants receive a pair of shoes & event t-shirt. (Quantities are limited) Sponsorship Level registration is available at a minimum donation of $100 which guarantees a pair of women's shoes, event t-shirt, & access to the Sponsorship Reception following the walk at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose. A half hour in women's shoes is a small price to pay! By participating in this walk, you will assist the YWCA Silicon Valley in reaching its aggressive goal to end sexual assault in our community. But should it occur, those affected will receive critical support services because of the YWCA Silicon Valley!
