Underneath YDMC's bravado lies a socially conscious rapper who actively gives back to the community. Originally from Atlanta, he got involved with the San Jose hip-hop scene via the Hip-Hop Congress, which is a nonprofit organization that seeks to inspire social change and creativity in the community. He eventually became the president of the San Jose chapter. Still that doesn't mean he doesn't have swagger; he does, a lot of it, not to mention some clever lyrics and some well-produced, hard-hitting beats. But still, his songs aren't just about him.
