Description

A lot of indie-rockers create the kind of music that takes several listens to really absorb. Not so with Portland's Woolen Men. Not that it's some ultrapoppy radio music; it has a very straight-forward, Guided By Voices, classic-rock air about it. The drums, however, are almost robotic, which works oddly well, giving Woolen Men an almost post-punk revival sound like bands had in the early 2000s-only without the affectation. These are good rock songs, just unusual enough to be interesting. Their new album was released on Woodist, which has put out records by the Babies, Moon Duo, Real Estate and Wavves.
