Description
Since 1968, the Valley Chorale has shared its love of fine choral music with bay area communities and on tour throughout northern California. The varied program is part concert, part revue -- bringing the audience a delightful musical buffet. The first course features classical and festival works, many in new and creative settings: César Franck’s lyric "Panis Angelicus"; John Rutter’s glittering "Praise the Lord of Heaven". Bells accompany J.P. Sweelinck’s "Hodie Christus Natus Est" while drums and maracas accent the Latin rhythms of "Gloria A Dios" from Ariel Ramírez’ "Misa Criolla".
The second course -- a musical revue laced with costumed singers, dancers and actors showcasing a rollicking arrangement of "The Trolley Song"; the tender love song, "The Sweetest Thing"; Big Band nostalgia, "Pennsylvania Stomp"; and a tongue twisting version of "Frog Went A-Courtin’" and more.
And for dessert they are serving colorful highlights of the great hits from "My Fair Lady" -- delicious!
The Chorale is directed by Marian Gay and Cathy Beaupré with Erik Hoyer and Franz Lanzinger at the piano.
