Husband and wife duo Aaron and Melody Tappero have had music in their veins since the '90s with the ill-fated punk rock outfit Ill Blooded. These days, with Vacant Churches, their multi-genre formula not only works, but sounds the most solid. Taking nods from Siouxsie Sioux, TSOL and early Dead Kennedys, the band refuses to bore the listener with Every Song Sounds The Same Syndrome, but rather showcases a punk/goth/new wave/whatever harmony. Their new drummer, Dustin Lozano, has meshed quite well, adding to Ryan Cook's pounding bass and Heather Crain's spooky keys. Last November's Last Hour features the band at their bast. - Beau Dowling sanjose.comPunk trio Joe Q. Citizen will also perform with Dover One on guitar and vocals, Rob Fraser on bass, Julian Ostrow on drums, and Shawn Packer on guitar and vocals. San Jose's dark ethereal rock band Lights Become Stars will follow.
