Description
It might get loud this week as NightLife explores the science of sound and rhythm. In the planetarium, learn how mathematical ideas take the shape of sights and sounds with a special screening of Chaos and Order at 7:30 and 8:30 pm. In the Forum, hear a talk about the rhythmic activity in our brains and throughout the Universe from UCSF neuroscientist Dr. Adam Gazzaley, lead collaborator on the Rhythm and the Brain Project. Head over to Science in Action to watch beats being made (and dropped) with visual projections of DJ decks, then take some of your sonic inspiration and join a drum circle in African Hall. See interactive visuals powered by music and learn how to decipher Morse code. Explore the choruses of nature at the Project Lab and chat with Academy herpetologist Dr. Bob Drewes as he explains how the heartbeats of cold-blooded animals speed up and slow down based on temperature21+ Event. ID required for entry.
