Vinyasa Flow A sequence of flowing postures, coordinating breath and movement. Modifications are suggested for different levels of students. Students are encouraged to practice at their own level. Knowledge of yoga or vinyasa basics recommended. August 25: 9-10:30AM Special Class Iyengar-Inspired Hatha Yoga Iyengar Yoga, created by B.K.S. Iyengar, is a form of yoga known for its use of props, such as belts and blocks, as aids in performing asanas (postures). It focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas. Iyengar Yoga is characterized by great attention to detail and precise focus on body alignment. Iyengar pioneered the use of "props" such as cushions, benches, blocks, straps, and even sand bags, which function as aids allowing beginners to experience asanas more easily and fully than might otherwise be possible without several years of practice. Props also allow tired or ill students to enjoy the benefits of many asanas via fully "supported" methods requiring less muscular effort. 12:00-1:15PM Vinyasa Basics Basics of vinyasa flow, connecting movement to the breath while transitioning between poses. Knowledge of Yoga Basics is helpful. 5:30-7:00PM Yin A meditative, healing practice. Intensify your yoga by holding poses to allow for longer, deeper stretching. A great complement to an active (Yang) practice. 7:15-8:30PM Yoga Tune-Up Yoga Tune-Up is a format that accelerates and increases the healing benefits of Yoga by combining elements of yoga, calisthenics, body therapy, and stress reduction. The poses, sequences and routines found in Yoga Tune-Up very quickly identify and strengthen ‘body blind-spots’ - integrating these blind spots relieves imbalance, furthers our practice, and heals our injuries. This class can be used for the beginner looking to get in shape, or for the experienced Yogin furthering their development in the actions of poses and end-range of motion. On a physiological level, Yoga Tune-Up brings the body/mind/emotion into harmony, attuning with our own highest self. 7:15-8:45PM Studio B Pre-Natal Within you there is an intuitive wisdom which understands the natural process of birth. We help you reconnect with this wisdom, guiding you through a class specifically designed for the journey of pregnancy. Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to experience your changing body in a positive way, and bring awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. The class is conducted in a calm, peaceful environment and will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing. |
