Description
Unresolved and untreated childhood trauma from a shame-based family is a primary cause of addictions and continued relapses. Self-medicating with substances (food, alcohol, drugs), or behaviors (sex addiction, love addiction, relationship addiction, internet porn addiction, codependency) only hides the pain. We then enter a downward spiral of toxic shame, trauma re-enactment, and addictions to help us cope with our pain. But, this is hope.
