When Toby Keith sang that song about how pissed he was after 9/11, I realized how foolish I had been to write him off as just another vaguely-talented country singer cashing in on middle America’s obsession with Garth Brooks and Wrangler jeans. He’s so much more than that! “Courtesy of Red, White, and Blue (The Angry American)” was so prolific, it let the world know that there was at least one guy with a boot in the rear- c’mon, somebody had to say it. Never mind the fact that Keith is an ex-football player who got cut from semi-pro ball after two years, and that the extent of his education seems to be his 2005 album Honekytonk University- just keep in mind the title off his 2008 release, That Don’t Make Me A Bad Guy.
