| Description A joyous words and music anthology in loving memory of the Bard... Shakespeare has been pillaged, plundered, misquoted, misunderstood, edited, rewritten, parodied, lampooned, and generally subjected to every indignity. Shakespeare makes his debut as a song and dance man but manages to maintain his dignity. This sparkling entertainment comprises the finest comic writing inspired by Shakespeare. As well as classic songs and sketches by such well-known names as Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Tom Lehrer, and the Beyond The Fringe team, it also features material written by the best modern revue writers. The Shakespeare Revue was first presented by The Royal Shakespeare Company on January 9, 1994 at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon where it won great critical acclaim.
