Perhaps more than anyone to come out of the East Bay underground, Citizen is an artist who understands hip-hop as something much larger than himself, and he promotes the greatness he sees in other MCs and producers even more than he pushes his own joints. That kind of selflessness is the direct inverse of the famous Bay Area rapper hustle, but ironically its earned him a level of respect that transcends all the street noise. There's nobody who can't learn something from The G.O.D. Hour, his hip-hop showcase show that started on Berkeley Liberation Radio and has evolved into the Godcast. He seems to hear everything, and as a rapper and producer, he incorporates the best of it, carrying on the tradition of Living Legends both solo and as part of the Understudies crew.
