In what is arguably the most politically crucial time in recent American history, Queeriosity marks it's eleventh incarnation. This year we focus on the theme Another Country, as inspired by James Baldwin. Youth Speaks' celebration of Pride always serves as an annual platform from which queer youth and their allies have the unfettered opportunity to be heard. In this era, where hope and change are heralded—we cling fast to the fresh-ass idea that a brand new nation may emerge. If, indeed, Another Country is bound to arrive, how do we ensure that it is a place we wish to inhabit? This year we draw on the painstaking artistry of Baldwin to inform our work. More than the obvious intersections of gender orientation, race and class in his perspectives, we look to this text as compelling and overtly candid historical narrative. Performers at the 11th Annual Queeriosity will be featured for their equally courageous art.More Info
