A lot of emcees call themselves socially conscious rappers, and even spit some thoughtful, politically minded verses. But local rapper SwayD (a.k.a. Danny Day) takes it a step further with actual action. He helps out with groups like Aids Walk and Project Street Peeps (which helps provide the homeless with basic necessities). When he does rap, his smooth flow and simple old school beats are the perfect foundation to discuss issues and problems facing the community and the world at large. He has been doing it a while now. Originally starting in L.A., he was a founding member of the Herbin Profits crew. He keeps at it because there is never a shortage of issues that need discussing.
