There’s a lot to like about Susan Tedeschi- she’s bright, confidant, and endlessly creative when it comes to the blues. Like many of today’s most popular blues acts (including her husband Derrick Trucks), Tedeschi isn’t content simply re-treading the paths of past blues men and women; instead, she strives to offer a fresh perspective on rock & roll’s original kin. But infusing soul, R&B, and jazz into her repertoire doesn’t prevent Tedeschi from paying tribute to the roots; songs like “The Danger Zone”, off her latest album Hope and Desire, show the traditional side of Tedeschi’s craft in all its rustic nostalgia. The album also covers a wide range of other original sources, including Ray Charles (“Tired of my Tears”) and Aretha Franklin (“Share Your Love with Me”). At this Mountain Winery show, she’ll play with local favorite Jackie Greene.
