Description

Storyteller Muriel Johnson will share captivating folktales from around the world.

The Menlo Park Library is holding a month-long celebration of the oral tradition, with a Storytelling Festival featuring an array of professional tellers over the course of seven different events. On November 20, the headliner is Muriel Johnson, who will breathe fresh new life into old tales, sharing her passion and warmth in an interactive style that keeps everyone captivated.

Muriel was born and raised in Salisbury, Maryland. As a child, she would sit in awe as her mother would read, tell stories, sing songs, and recite nursery rhymes. It was only natural that when Muriel became a mother and later a teacher, she was compelled to share the same way her mother had shared with her. She has performed at schools, churches, museums, colleges, festivals, and countless other venues from rural communities on the Eastern Shores of Maryland to the townships of Cape Town, South Africa.
