South Bay Dub Massive is back at Johnny V's and you know what that means: dubstep, glitch and underground hip hop all night long. Dubstep may be a little less underground than it used to be, as more mainstream pop artists are incorporating elements of their sounds. Still, there is a world of difference between, for instance, Britney's "Freakshow"—with its imitative wobbly bass, percussive pauses, and abrasive soundscapes—and legit Dubstep. DJ Whores headlines SBDM on Saturday, bringing grooves a little more laid-back than the genre typically champions. Opener Gurthmax, though, will play some loud, aggressive, abrasive dance music.
