Opio, Tajai, A-Plus, Phesto and Pep Love set out to change hip-hop and for a few years, they did. ’93 Til Infinity was the group’s debut and is considered a West Coast classic. Shady major label deals killed the momentum and Souls spent six years figuring out what to do, releasing cassettes and building up their Internet presence. Today, they and their Hieroglyphics partners (Del, Casual) got their business side together with its own independent label and cobbled together a number of releases, including the 2000 Souls album Trilogy and 2002’s Focus, Pep Love’s Ascension and Ascension Side C, A-Plus’s My Last Good Deed, Tajai’s Power Movement and Opio’s Vulture’s Wisdom, Volume 1. With Language Arts Crew, Rise of the Revolution, Dirtbag Dan and Ichy the Killer.
