Description
Despite their goofy name, the "Phat N Phunky Phamily" of bands has been one of the coolest things going in the South Bay for several years now. At the center of it is on-again, off-again Shinobu, the local indie band who were doing the chunky post-punk-throwback sound before it was cool. They also lay claim to the best 80s-revival reference ever, with their play on New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle," a song called simply "Regular Love Triangle." Certainly New Order/Joy Division are a big influence, but so are the Pixies (check out "I Am A Lightning Bolt") and the Replacements. The Albert Square, Japan's Four Tomorrow, Joyce Manor and Tiny Lungs open. - Steve Palopoli sanjose.comMore Info
