Description
This show consists of forty girls ranging in age from 9 to 17 and uses Modern dance, Taiko drumming, Hip-Hop, theater, song and text to tell a story of the joys and concerns of young women who care about the world and want their voices heard! Drawing on Dance Brigade's signature style and repertoire, these young women give voice to endangered species, the women of Jaurez, issues of body image and the need to conform to peer pressure. Under the direction of Krissy Keefer and Leila Baradaran, these women display their artistry and dance technique as learned through the Dance Brigade method. Combining Dance Brigade's Modern dance Feminist and female-oriented style with Salsa, Belly Dance, Hip Hop, and Ballet, these young girls have created a style all their own to express 21st century life in San Francisco. Other choreography is by Ramon Ramos Alayo and Taiko composition is by Bruce Ghent.More Info
