Description
Shane Lamb traffics in good plain singer-songwriter rock and roll. We note that immediately before Lamb plays the Streetlight Records, he’s headed to the recently re-opneed Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, a Summer of Love pit stop where the Dead and The Charlatans used to play; Lamb’s kind of approach would have sounded as good alongside those acts as it does now. People go, “Dylan, Petty?” when they hear Lamb, but that just shows that there’s a divide between young and old voiced singer (Iggy the former, Dylan the latter, Cobain the former, Cash the latter, et cetera.) Lamb’s self-produced album Disengage is the work of a young voiced man, sweeping a lot of trouble out of his life; “On My Mind” is a particularly tender ballad; Lamb is capable of the occasional musical insight that, in Shakespeare’s phrase, strikes a man dead as a great reckoning in a little room. - Richard von Busack sanjose.comMore Info
