Description

The 14th annual San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival kicks off Feb 7th and runs thru Feb 17, with two dates here at Cafe du Nord (Feb 9 and 16). The SFBOT Festival is a one-of-a-kind festival - it\'s grass-roots, non-profit, volunteer-run, and not your typical camp out bluegrass fest.
It\'s held in 10 different venues around San Francisco, Berkeley, and Marin. The festival features living legends, hot touring bands, and local favorites, plus kids\' shows, and jam sessions.

THE ALT-BLUEGRASS SHOW featuring: THE F**KING BUCKAROOS

The F**king Buckaroos formed in 2004 in San Francisco and play what they call “Punk Rock Americana”. Both their originals and their interpretations of country/folk/bluegrass standards, are often riotous, profane and filled with trouble, toil and bloodshed; but they also reflect a deep sense of compassion, hilarity and a demand for social justice. The Buckaroos will make you want to fight, fornicate, laugh and cry, all at the same time.

BIG JUGS

Big Jugs is your Grandpa\'s favorite country band, but don\'t expect to find the album anywhere around his house. He won\'t bring it out at Thanksgiving while the family sits down at the bird. And no, you won\'t find the record in the front room between his Merle and Willie vinyl. Grandma may not even know the album exists. You see, Grandpa hides it out in the barn next to his old ass kickin boots. It\'s from a time when he used to spit tobacco in the face of danger, drink whiskey till sun was rising and knock the dickens out of any man who wore a sour grin. He even had his own robe down at the local bordello, where he seldom had to pay. And his favorite band was BIG JUGS

SUPERMULE

SUPERMULE (San Francisco) are a collective of the finest pickers and singers the Bay Area has to offer, culled from a wide range of musical scenes, from bluegrass to jazz to classical to funk. The band uses the forms and melodies of American roots music to explore common ground and celebrate diverse musical backgrounds. The result is a refreshing bluegrass ruckus- ancient tones merging with the moxy of jazz and bravado of rock ‘n roll.

POOR MAN\'S POISON

Poor Man\'s Poison (Hanford CA) have a way of making it look easy. After ten years of playing the mean streets of Hanford, CA in different configurations, indulging nearly every genre under the sun, it seems the boys have found their niche -- Americana meets alt-bluegrass. And they do it oh so well.
