Channeling the aesthetic of turn-of-the-century goth rockers, RVLS exist as time-travelers from an angstier time. Fronted by the ankh pendant-wearing Kalie Wolfe, this quintet of punk rockers lays down hard-driving buzzy riffs and crunchy percussion to propel Wolfe's piercing, anguished lyrics. Hailing from SoCal, they've climbed their way from tiny backyard parties to the national "Emo is Back" tour. In the music video for one of their biggest hits, "This Water Seems Shallow," Wolfe wears shoulder-length locks of platinum blonde and turquoise while howling existential musings--leading her head-banging cohorts away from a group of masked thugs.
