Forecast for the San Jose Real Estate Market in 2007

- Don Orason - February 12th 2007

For the 5th year in a row, San Jose has been confirmed as "the safest big city in the nation." You combine that with the great weather, the diverse cultural population, the job opportunities with some of the local and world leaders, Cisco, INTEL, EBAY, Google and you have a strong real estate market in comparison to the national statistics.

You have got to love the weather here in San Jose! While much of the country is having historical freezing temperatures, in contrast, here in the Bay Area we seem to be having another enjoyable season. That is one of our area's most desirable features.

It appears that the latest outlook for the California and San Jose area housing market for 2007 is predicting flat, rather than falling home prices. From looking at all the indicators the forecast for median home prices in the Santa Clara County - San Jose area looks to gain 1-2% and mortgage rates to approach the 6.5 - 7% range.

It still feels like a "Buyers Market" right now...and buyers can take advantage of this market and find some great deals...but if a home is "priced right", it sells fast! So Seller's remember if you price your home correctly for the current real estate market, you will be in the driver's seat when it comes time to negotiate.
