Cost of Relocating to San Jose

- CJ Brasiel - September 14, 2007

If you are moving to San Jose from anywhere in the country except Manhattan, prepare for a cost-of-living jolt. Very few places in the United States have housing prices higher than the San Jose area. When working with clients that are moving into the state, I always recommend they visit Bankrate.com and plug in the city they are moving from and then San Jose to see how their move will affect their wallet. In spite of the constant media broadcasting about the high prices of homes in California, many do not realize the truth about the differences.

However, few places in the country offer so much in such a local area. If you want the beach, we've got it. Simply drive 30 minutes and you are at the world famous surfer beach of Santa Cruz. If you want to snow ski, we are 4 hours from the most beautiful alpine lake at Lake Tahoe and some of the best ski resorts in the west. If you want fine dining, we've got it. If you want theatre we have everything from nightly local theatres to Broadway hits. If you want shopping, we definitely have the hottest retailers. If you want a park within walking distance of your home, we most likely have that too.

The San Jose area is truly a smorgasbord of activities, culture, and people. The diversity of our community not only enriches each new resident but provides an evolving platform for our pioneering heritage. It doesn't take long to forget the cost of moving and get on with an exciting new life here in San Jose.

Retire to the San Jose Villages

- CJ Brasiel - August 1, 2007

Not everyone wants to leave the Bay Area when they retire. In fact there are quite a few that want to stay close to family but are looking for a community that will let them enjoy the next stage of their lives a little bit easier.

One of the great retirement communities of our area exist not far away from the hustle and bustle of San Jose. Many have heard of The Villages Golf and Country Club but if you haven't been there you will be very surprised on how much it has to offer.

Established in the late 1960s, The Villages neighborhood boasts over 1200 acres and includes championship golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, lakes, spas, walking paths, and views of the mountains and valleys galore.

This is a private, gated, active adult community where one resident must be 55 or over to reside. It was voted one of the Top 20 places to retire by New Choices for Retirement Living Magazine.

There are over 2000 town homes and condominium units and over 200 single-family homes. There are over 50 different clubs to join from Bridge to Jazzercise. There are two banquet halls, a library, a restaurant, and stables for horse back riding. The community organizes trips and events and even has a special storage area for RV owners on the property.

Most importantly, it is a great community for active adults to make a comfortable next home. For those who want to stay in the Bay Area, enjoy a great round of golf, and the company of friends and family, The Villages Golf and Country Club has a great deal to offer.
